Gas Load Break Switches
Safe, flexible switching for overhead distribution and rail networks.
Insulect’s Gas Load Break Switches provide reliable switching solutions for medium voltage overhead distribution and rail networks. Designed to operate under load, our switches use SF₆ or environmentally responsible alternatives to deliver arc-free, high-performance operation across a range of configurations.
With ratings from 12kV to 36kV, they are suitable for pole-mounted, ground-mounted and kiosk installations. Options include manual or remote operation, integrated protection, and custom enclosures tailored to specific network requirements.
All units are engineered for the Australian climate and manufactured to comply with IEC and AS standards.

Engineered for Safe, Reliable Switching in Harsh Environments.
Insulect’s Gas Load Break Switches (GLBS) are purpose-built for the demands of distribution networks across Australia and the Asia-Pacific. Designed to perform in extreme heat, high-moisture, and corrosive environments, these switches provide reliable load breaking and fault isolation up to 36 kV. They are trusted solutions for above-ground and underground applications, particularly in rural and remote zones where manual or SCADA-enabled switching is required.
Safe, Visible Switching with High Load Capacity.
Insulect GLBS units are engineered for dependable load break functionality up to 36 kV, 630 A. The sealed SF₆ gas-filled chamber ensures arc-quenching performance and dielectric strength, supporting safe, repeatable operations. Featuring visible open gap confirmation, internal arc fault containment, and IEC certification, these switches are built for security, safety, and peace of mind in live line conditions.
Configurable to Suit Network and Site Requirements.
With pole-top and pad-mount options, manual or remote operation, and flexible terminal configurations, Insulect GLBS units integrate seamlessly into both new and retrofit networks. Custom control cabinet layouts, SCADA compatibility, and tailored brackets ensure ease of installation across a wide range of utility standards and site conditions.
Enhancing Switching Control. Increasing Network Uptime.
