Fibre Optic Temperature Monitoring
Accurate, Direct Winding Hot‑Spot Measurement
Fibre optic temperature monitoring provides real‑time, direct measurement of transformer winding hot‑spots, offering a reliable way to understand true internal temperatures under all loading and operating conditions. Unlike calculated or indirect methods, fibre optic sensors installed directly within transformer windings give an accurate picture of actual thermal behaviour, helping prevent premature insulation ageing, overheating and unplanned failures.

- 02 What We Solve For
Made for Demanding Environments
Fibre optic temperature systems are widely used in power transformers, distribution transformers and load tap changers, supporting both new builds and retrofits. These systems are especially valuable in environments with dynamic loading, high thermal stress or accelerated ageing risks. The technology is also used in transformer design validation, factory acceptance testing and quality control labs. With multi‑channel capability, rugged probes and flexible feedthrough options, Neoptix solutions support monitoring for dry‑type and oil‑filled transformers across transmission and distribution applications.
What We Solve For
Features & Functionality

Fibre optic probes installed directly in the windings provide true hot‑spot temperatures—not calculated or inferred measurements—helping predict dynamic loading capability, avoid thermal damage and support safe operational decisions.

Probe Design
Neoptix T2™ probes are oil‑immersed, reinforced, and built to withstand harsh transformer environments. They use oil‑permeable PTFE jackets, dielectric connectors and reinforced spiral wrap to meet ASTM performance requirements.

Systems support anywhere from 1 to more than 100 channels depending on model, enabling comprehensive multi‑point temperature profiling for large power transformers and detailed thermal mapping for research, testing and industrial applications.
