Bushing Monitoring

Multi‑Bushing Monitoring Capability
Real‑Time Capacitance & Tan Delta Measurement

Continuous Insight Into Bushing Health

Qualitrol’s advanced bushing monitoring technology is part of the QTMS Transformer Monitoring System. These monitoring modules provide continuous visibility into bushing condition by measuring capacitance, leakage current, temperature, and tan delta—key indicators of insulation health. Early detection of deterioration allows asset owners to prevent failures, reduce risk, and improve transformer reliability.

Qualitrol QBMS Bushing Monitoring System, front

Application Overview

Qualitrol Bushing Monitoring is designed for online, real‑time assessment of high‑voltage transformer bushings. The system supports monitoring of up to six bushing taps per module and integrates seamlessly into QTMS for complete asset health visibility. It is suitable for transmission, distribution and industrial transformers, and can be deployed across single‑asset or fleet‑level monitoring structures through SmartSUB enterprise software.

What We Solve For

Bushing failures are among the leading causes of major transformer outages. Electrical insulation breakdown often originates long before it becomes visible. By continuously tracking capacitance changes, rising tan delta, leakage current shifts, and thermal behaviour, the Qualitrol bushing monitoring module identifies early deterioration so action can be taken before failure occurs. This reduces unscheduled downtime, enhances operational safety, and supports condition‑based maintenance programs.
