Power Quality Monitoring, Class A
Accurate, Standards‑Based Power Quality Monitoring
IDM+ delivers IEC 61000‑4‑30 Class A power quality measurements, ensuring consistent, comparable, and repeatable PQ data across voltage and current parameters, harmonics, flicker, and events like sags/swells.

Application Overview
Designed for transmission and sub‑transmission environments, the PQ option continuously measures key parameters and logs 10‑minute minimum/maximum/average values per the standard. Voltage dips, swells, and interruptions are recorded and can trigger RMS envelopes or DFR captures for deeper analysis.
What We Solve For
-
Standardized PQ assessments across sites and devices, eliminating inconsistent results from differing methods.
-
Root‑cause and impact analysis for events affecting equipment life and customer power quality.
-
Efficient reporting, with automated and on‑demand iQ+ reports and specialized PQ viewers.
Features & Functionality
Certified against IEC 61000‑4‑30 (Ed 2.0).

RMS V/I, active/reactive/apparent/distorted power, power factor, frequency, THD/TDD, harmonics (1st–50th), interharmonics (1st–49th), unbalance, and flicker Pst/Plt.

10‑minute (standard) or configurable free interval from 10/12 cycles to 24 hours; ≥1 year storage of 10‑min PQ parameters without overwriting.
Voltage sags/swells/interruptions log entries and can trigger envelopes or high‑speed DFR records.

10‑minute (standard) or configurable free interval from 10/12 cycles to 24 hours; ≥1 year storage of 10‑min PQ parameters without overwriting.
Functionality & Options
- Define voltage and current groups (e.g., 2 busbars/4 feeders per 18 analog inputs, or 1 busbar/5 feeders) for targeted PQ monitoring.
- Analyze and report via iQ+ master station with standard/custom reports and visualization tools.
- Combine PQ with DFR/DDR/PMU/FL on the same platform for unified event analysis.

Why Choose Insulect Power Quality Monitoring
Power Quality Monitoring in the IDM+ provides a reliable, standards‑based way to understand how the electrical system behaves over time. It helps utilities make better decisions by giving them consistent, accurate, and long‑term power quality data.
The IDM+ is fully certified to IEC 61000‑4‑30 Class A, which means every measurement follows strict, repeatable methods for voltage, current, harmonics, flicker, and other PQ parameters. This ensures data from different substations or devices is consistent and comparable, reducing uncertainty in system analysis and compliance reporting.
Voltage dips, swells, and interruptions are automatically logged and can trigger RMS envelope recordings or high‑speed fault records. This tight link between PQ events and DFR data makes it easier for engineers to trace issues back to their source and understand how equipment and the grid behaved leading up to and after a disturbance. All PQ records can be viewed and processed through the iQ+ master station software for streamlined analysis.
The IDM+ logs the minimum, maximum, and average value for every PQ parameter in 10‑minute intervals, with storage for at least one year without overwriting. This long‑term visibility helps identify trends, track system health over time, and support planning decisions that improve long‑term reliability and power quality performance. [IDM+ Brochure | PDF]
