Overview
The Edenvale Solar Park is a 204 MW solar project under construction in Queensland’s Western Downs region, featuring over 377,000 solar panels across 428 hectares. As part of its high-voltage infrastructure, Insulect supplied 33kV Station Post Insulators, 275kV Capacitive Voltage Transformers, Power Quality Sensors to suit CVTs, and both 275kV and 36kV Disconnectors, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable grid integration for this large-scale renewable energy development.
Challenge
A solar project of this size needs more than just generation capacity—it needs a strong and stable connection to the grid. Power output changes throughout the day, so the system must handle these shifts while maintaining steady voltage and power quality.
There also needs to be safe and reliable ways to isolate parts of the network for maintenance or in the event of a fault. All equipment must perform consistently in outdoor conditions and support long-term operation.
Solution
Insulect supplied a suite of high-voltage components designed to work together as part of the site’s electrical infrastructure.
This included 36kV and 275kV disconnectors for safe switching and isolation, allowing operators to manage different parts of the system with confidence. Capacitive voltage transformers (CVTs) and power quality sensors were installed to monitor voltage levels and maintain system performance.
Station post insulators were also provided to support and protect the network under high-voltage conditions. Together, these components help manage how energy moves from the solar farm into the grid.
Benefits
With Insulect’s equipment in place, the Edenvale Solar Park benefits from a safer and more reliable electrical system.
Operators can isolate sections of the network when needed, making maintenance safer and reducing downtime. The monitoring equipment helps maintain stable voltage and power quality, even as solar output changes.
The overall system is built for durability, helping reduce maintenance needs and supporting long-term performance.
Results
As Edenvale Solar Park moves toward full operation, it is set to deliver clean energy to the grid and support growing demand across Queensland.
Its high-voltage infrastructure works in the background to ensure power is delivered safely and efficiently from the site.
Insulect’s contribution plays an important role in this, helping provide the reliable electrical foundation needed for a project of this scale to succeed.
