Junee Solar Farm

Overview

The Junee Solar Farm is a 30 MWAC renewable energy project in New South Wales, spanning 93 hectares and utilizing single-axis tracking solar panels for optimal energy generation. The farm feeds electricity into the Essential Energy 66kV network, supporting the region’s transition to clean energy. As part of the high-voltage infrastructure, Insulect provided 72kV Disconnectors, ensuring safe and reliable grid connection for the project.

Challenge

Even at a smaller scale, connecting a solar farm to the grid requires careful control. Energy output changes throughout the day, so the system needs to manage these variations while keeping power stable.

There was also a need for safe isolation points so maintenance could be carried out without disrupting the entire site. The equipment had to be dependable and suited to outdoor conditions, where long-term reliability is essential.
