Safeguarding underground cables

Sheath Voltage Limiters (SVL) are used in Link Boxes as an economic solution for safeguarding expensive cable installations.

SVLs are highly effective at managing cable sheath voltage rises and the associated power flows that can result under fault conditions.

Insulect manufacture an extensive range of quality 20kA zinc oxide sheath voltage limiters (SVL’s) for our Link Box range and for individual sale.

Voltages: 1.5kV to 9.0kV

Maximise cable asset protection and load management

Underground power cables are a growing asset management priority for many network operators. These high value assets are not as readily accessible as other grid components, yet are often network critical and in need of improved condition insights.

Insulect provide several monitoring technologies aimed at protecting and optimising load on underground cables, including cable partial discharge monitoring, distributed acoustic sensing, distributed temperature sensing, and real time thermal rating for cables.
