Some transformer fluids can help the environment
Corporations and organisations of all kinds are under increasing pressure to ensure their activities cause the minimum amount of damage to the environment. A call for change is evident from the growth in strict regulations, standards and legislation designed to encourage better stewardship of the environment.
The particular characteristics of MIDEL transformer fluids complement this growing call for eco-protection. In addition to providing future gains by changing transformer specification to an ester fluid, they can offer more immediate environmental advantages through transformer retrofilling too, allowing existing assets to be made environmentally safe.
MIDEL fluid environmental credentials
Biodegradable, low spillage risk, fire safe
MIDEL ester transformer fluids are biodegradable and fire safe – properties not found in mineral oil. The fluids present a much lower risk to the local environment if spillage occurs (readily biodegradable according to OECD 301 and fully biodegradable according to IEC 61039).
Because of these features, using MIDEL ester fluids may also reduce the need for containment surrounding the transformer, thus reducing the amount of real estate required and so potentially reducing civil costs.
